I hope we don't write the season off and am sure that Moyes isn't doing that. Unless we pull some rabbits out of the hat then it will be difficult to match the achievements of the team last season. That will only be told with time.

One thing that I am confident of however is that this summer will have hurt Moyes and being the proud man he appears to be he won't want to feel that hurt again, so he'll be better prepared in future.

On the plus side - wages will drop from 75% of turnover..............
.....I'm not helping am I? :P

Yes and no. I've been wondering for several years how long it will be before it is no longer financially viable for Championship sides to accept promotion to the EPL.
On a financial level it only makes sense when the potential extra matchday income, TV money, sponsorship and parachute payments (lets face it most teams promoted go straight back down) outweigh the extra expenditure on new players and wages which promotion necessarily incurs.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the run up to 2010 when the EPL TV deal is renegotiated, on the back of the current economic slump. I read an article recently warning that most UK firms had cut their advertising budgets by over 50% over the first half of the year. If it continues it will seriously affect the income of the TV companies, and hence the amount of money they can bid for TV rights. That in turn will cut the prize money - which I am prepared to bet will result in a disproportionate cut in TV/parachute money to relegated clubs.

Whether by 2010 or not, I'm sure an end to collective bargaining in the Premiership is on the cards and an economic downturn will hasten that process. Those clubs with the biggest fanbase will attract advertsiers looking to target their markets to their own tv stations. Wages will be much more uneven across the Premiership. Not that it'll make much difference: concentration of trophies in the hands of a few clubs.

Plus ca change. (n)

I thimk we will see Platini put an end to to debt being ammassed by clubs as well its all ready implemented in many leauges! Should be intresting!

3 games into the new season and only 3 points on the board with 7 goals shipped. No disrespect meant but at this rate our local derby next season will be against Blackpool! (Preston to be promoted.....)
What has happened to the club since the end of last season? We struggled with the pre-season friendlies and failed to sign the top drawer players we were promised.
To cap it all we sell AJ when we were all expecting the best from him after a "difficult" second season at the club.
Then in the closing stages of the transfere window we start signing second rate cast offs and crocked players!
I have to agree with others on the forum. I have been optimistic for far too long and have now come to the end of my tether with the current set up.
Kenno....release the funds to sign the quality players NOW.:@

No, you weren't, Ghost. You were being positive a few weeks ago and pissing all over anyone who disagreed with what you thought then. The youth were going to save us and anyone who didn't have your close personal information sources was full of [Poor language removed] and didn't know the first thing about the club.

Now it's /* dramatic sigh */ maybe because you are the only one that /* sigh */ cares enough because you /* sigh */ supported the club since you were little.

[Poor language removed] me. You're a bigger drama queen than Bill Kenwright and that's going some.

Harsh but more than fair !

The man's a bit emotional me thinks.......

Well I suppose I take it more personally than others than. But I have followed Everton since I was little, and I am not happy with how it is going, and I honestly believe the reason nothing is getting done, is because not enough people believe they can make a difference, hence nobody does anything, and therefore nothing changes.
I agree mate it does not make any one less of a fan to express concern,If people dont worry about things they cant change? good for them sadly if something is wrong that is beyond my capabilities to alter I still worry.I think a few honest answers would be a start BK to explain why he states watch this space with a smile and what happens nothing so why not treat us like grown ups and simply say something like ,we over spent last year and in the current financial climate we are struggling to give Mr Moyes the amount of cash for players he wants. And for Mr Moyes to say I have not decide yet if I wish to commit my future to the club as I am beginning to think I have taken this club as far as I can under the cash restrictions I have to work under.I am not asking anyone to confess its all their fault just give us a plausible reasons for the uncertainty that is growing at our club

It must piss moyes off when the likes of bolton spend nearly 20 million and we spend nothing and we get double the gates.

ive been trying to stay positive all summer
but christ its been hard
i dont like critisim for critisims sake. i prefer to try to be constructive.
where do we begin..............

David Moyes sign your contract or resign. i would like him to stay but, i do not believe that him promising to sign a new contract and then continually putting it off is helping us to attract any of the top players we say we are in for. i wouldnt want to move into a new job knowing that the person at the top could be having doubts about whether its worth staying or not

dk...
i was a yes man, but its dead now. bury it and look at all possible alternatives

bk....
great/[Poor language removed]? has made some decisions that were good e.g signing moyes, providing stability after agent johnson, providing funds to break our record fee 3 yrs running. some bad, mainly, kings dock fiasco.
he has always said he will go when some one better equiped turns up. my questions are,
has anyone seriously been in for us?
If yes, why didnt it happen?
If no, what is is that is turning these people off?

money........
i believe that if we dont buy big before deadline, that the money never existed. if we do, that just brings more questions regarding why the delay.

regardless of what happens, proud to be blue (trying to stay positive)

I agree with most of what you've said. I've also tried really hard to stay optimistic, but nearing the end of the transfer window, I'm beginning to ask a lot of the questions you are.

There's no need to be personal about it mate. Yes a few weeks ago I was pissed off, but that was because I was taking for a ride by a certain Ian Ross. I was all positive about the youth because I like most others felt we were bringing in players to support there development, instead of us having to rely on them too heavily.

I'm now getting pissed off because of two reasons. One there is something seriously wrong with the club and everyone knows it. And two people on here are playing it off and putting it down to experience.

I'm not someone who is full of knee jerk reactions. But every 90 minutes of football we play, every time a player we are supposedly in for goes somewhere else, every second that ticks down to the window being shut, is vitally important in the future of this club. Two weeks ago we had two weeks to sign players, and I was told to not worry, as players will be signed.

But what have we achieved since then?

A Danish right back on a free.
A midfielder from Ecuador on a season's loan.

That is it. Saha is a maybe as he may not pass his medical, but he hasn't cost anything either. Then there is Obinha, who may not get clearance to sign in time, but he's on a loan.

Why are we waiting until the last minute to pull something out of the bag? Why not two weeks ago? Why not 6 weeks ago? Why not 2 months ago like Spurs did with Modric?

Because we are all being taken for a ride, and I care about all you guys more than I care about Moyes and Kenwright. I don't give a [Poor language removed] about them. Its a job for them, its more than that for us.

The window will shut and Moyes will moan that things just never happened for him. I'm getting a bit fed up of hearing it, and if that's being negative, than so be it. I'm entitled to change my focus and opinion based on developments at my club.

As I would expect you to Attrotel too. If you don't like the fact that most people complain about there club not being run properly, then don't go on forums, because they are about opinions.

Sometimes I may make mistakes, but I never think my opinions are wrong because I stand by my points of view, otherwise why have an opinion?

I am unable to laugh it off like some. I take it to heart, I take it personally. It effects me badly, because that's how much of a blue I am. I would sweat blood and tears for this club, and money permitting I would follow them to the ends of the earth, but it pains me to see them get to touching distance, just to let it fall by the wayside.
