A very strange thing to say indeed.

I'm not suggesting I'd have them in goal instead of Howard when they're injured.

And Begovic has been very good this season, by the way. I won't argue your other points too much as they are actually valid. I don't massively rate a few in that list so fair enough.
But the point is to compare Howard to other goalkeepers in the Premier League this season, isn't it? If they aren't playing this season, it isn't much of a comparison, and I don't think anyone is suggesting that we don't go after a new goalkeeper for next season.

My point is, based on the actual goalkeepers in the Premier League right now, Howard is probably average or slightly better. That's partly because he's playing better than people around here are giving him credit, partly because some previously decent goalkeepers are having terrible seasons, and partly because the Premier League is missing some of its better goalkeepers right now due to injury.

Come on, mate. I get what you're saying but we may as well say I'm a better keeper than Neur because he's asleep and I'm awake. You can still compare a fit player to an injured one if they've played in the same league for a while.

I don't think you can when you're talking about players over 30 with injuries as severe as Foster and Forster have had, though. You never know if they're going to come back any better than a shadow of themselves. Just look at Valdes.

So only around 25% of fans rate him above a 5/10. Wow. I call that a vote of no confidence in Super Timmy Secretary of Defence USMNMSNMSNMSNMT

In Martinez's first season he was probably a 7-8/10, last year he would have got a 2, this year he's improved a little but still isn't good enough so he got a 4. The only thing saving him from worse is the memory of Paul Gerrard and friends.

He has been a good servant to the club no question about that. Sadly though he is not going to improve anymore and very rarely do you think of him as a match winner. Having seen Martyn, and of course Southall between the sticks you can see the difference a real top class keeper can make. We desperately need to find a top class keeper, more than the number '10' we spent all summer chasing.
