I’ll go for the failure to bring in a solid reliable central midfielder in the summer. Gomes, Delph and Gbamin should have been moved on and replaced with one decent Prem proven player.

DCL taking and missing the penalty against Brighton. First game back and even that early in the game he was blowing for tugs. In changing his style for the kick he did his confidence no good at all. A good skipper wouldn't have had him anywhere near the ball.

Despite having a good first season with martinez I'd go as far back as to when moyes left. It started the cycle of garbage managers and even worse signings except for Rom.

Moyes was great at finding players. No one comes close to him since.
