Pickford or Howard?

Better keeper of the two please?

Genuinely so infuriating. We absolutely battered them that night and we conceded from 2 nothing chances. The last one was a free kick by their corner flag which bounced between our centrebacks and Howard jumped over it. Peak Everton that.
even more so when we scored in the last min or so,to then have them go the other end and make it 2-2,isnt that the game were we had 2 chances cross the line [or defo 1 anyway] that were not give as well

On a serious note though Howard is being overegged here. Even at his peak he was rubbish from distance, weak under crosses and highballs, terrible on free kick positioning, pretty poor on pens and absolutely pants at one on ones. He had great reflexes that for a while bailed him out of some of the above but once they went he was comfortably the worst keeper in the league. Pickford is better in almost any aspect. Better under the highball, better positioning, better one on one, better attitude, better at shots from distance, similarly good reflexes, better distribution.

Yeah that’s right, the ref absolutely shafted us and then Anochebe scored only for us to Everton it up in the last minute. Even their first was a nothing shot that Howard just fell over.

I cannot fathom how Howard gets into the equation...how many easily saveable long distance shots did he let in within?

Gerrard’s free kick at Anfield was the final straw. He stood practically on one post, Gerrard just lifted the ball over the wall into the middle of the goal at a comfortable height and Howard at full dive couldn’t get enough of a hand to a shot other keepers wouldn’t have even moved for. He completely lost his head towards the end. Diving out the way of attackers on one on ones before they’d even taken a shot, falling over on corners before anyone had even head it, ‘leaving’ shots to roll into the corners that he could have just walked across the line and picked up. An awful keeper not in the class of prem Southall or Martyn and not as good as Pickford at any point.
