We may or may not like the family but he was a husband, a dad, a grandpa and a great grandpa to them.

He's had an effect on you - he's been one of the heads of states and most prominent faces of the nation. He's one of the faces of institutional elitism that this country reeks of - a man's dead, his family can grieve, think it's perfectly reasonable for people to use the event to discuss how grim his family and their place in society is considering the harm they, whether symbolically or in practice, help continue.

TBF this isn’t really the day for this debate, but I think there needs to be a recognition that there are grades of institutional elitism, and that actually joining up and fighting in a war he didn’t start, actually helping people via events, public support and that scheme of his etc should count in ones favour.

I mean the idea of a feudal hierarchy is daft, but I’d much rather have that than the elite we have now (who do very little positive).

For all his faults I dont think he has murdered anyone,
He hasn't any effect on me either dead or alive dont get why anybody would wish anything but condolences to his family on there loss.
I dont give a toss if we have a monarch or not personally but dont get the hatred.

Haters gotta hate someone...it makes you wonder what sadness has gone on in their lives to try and find an excuse to pour bile and hate onto someone who has spent a lifetime serving the U.K......
