Mate of mine was just going out with girls until he realised he was gay and started going out with fellas in his early thirties.
Didn’t come out to his family until he was 50. And he is a very self confident person, ex bizzie now a nurse, who wouldn't bat an eyelid to someone shouting abuse and is well capable of handling himself.

He just did it when it felt right for him.

Fair play to Schofield even though I think it probably is due to someone threatening to leak or blackmail him, he's still doing it on his terms.

This really. Someone coming out shouldn't be made a big deal out of. I suppose in one way it might encourage people to do the same but being splattered in the headlines may also make them think it is too big a deal to consider. It should be oh well he's gay, end of.

Also these brave shouts are a bit much, a teenager coming out I'd imagine has it a million times harder.
