In the Blackburn match he was one of our brighter performers. Since moving to central defensive midfield he has, to my mind become the new Carsley. I really can't believe that I am so impressed with him, but I think that he's grown into the job and seems to have a "never say die" attitude on the pitch.

I know he has many knockers on this site, but there has been a quantum improvement in him. Never a world beater, but does his job simply and well.

Keep it up Phil and get us to the final.

I agee mate but he needs a playmaker next to him to give him the option of a short pass or he just hoofs it. he is worth his weight in gold sitting infront of the back four breaking up the oppositions attack. Moyes has to play osman in the middle.

There are others players to have a go at anyway but you're right, Phil has done well in midfield and that's possibly why DM wants to keep him there while Hibbo is out. Who knows.

Phil is a model professional, always tries his best and always acknowledges the fans before and after the match.
The Ronaldo wallop was his defining moment in a Blue shirt and I think a lot of fans have warmed to him since then.

I entirely agree

I would say it was more down to Arteta in the middle rather than Pip doing anything. He has played better this season because he has kept it simple, but he is playing better by Pip standards and still is nowhere near good enough for our 1st 11

Not as good has Carsley in the tackling stakes but his leadership qualities are second to none. He may have had a lot of stick at Everton but he is an excellent influence on and off the playing field.

I think you being harsh on pip, as usual(y).
I see where your coming from and all, but I stand by the fact his overall influence and experience has more than made up for his shortcomings this season, especially with us having to play some of the more inexperienced players in the squad such as gosling and rodwell etc
I think its difficult to judge something like influence etc, but I'm more than happy to give him the benefit of the doubt, ive seen numerous things from him this season, especially off-the-ball so to speak.

It would be great to have a player who was class with the ball at his feet as well, but for the time being such a player would be out of our price range.

man mountain today, in my top 3 for MOTM, cant split Lescott, Saha and Pip
