Hahahahaha........no cones then......
All jokes aside I truly hope that he is preparing well for that first training session.

Demonstrating that he knows the team members, their individual strengths/weaknesses and some clear ideas on how he wants them to play (and how it differs from previous manager) will be an important first step in him gaining their confidence after a pretty farcical roll-out.

You just know he will walk in as they are getting changed.......

I may have posted this in the wrong thread........

I’ve heard his first team is ......

Jody Banks
Georgina Cohen
Jacquie Charlton
Roberta Moore (c)
Kay Wilson
Nora Stiles
Alice Ball
Booby Charlton
Martina Peters
Jemima Hurst
Rose Hunt

I can't believe the stick he's got for this, he was talking about battering his wife at table tennis while on holiday.

Another storm in a teacup, blown out of all proportion by the media.

Oh come on, of course there was a implied reference to domestic violence. You can say it was a joke and shouldn't be taken too seriously but to claim that it had no reference to it strains credulity.

And whilst you might think that there is no harm in joking about it, if you combine the stats on how prevalent it is and the fact that females under 30 are the most at risk population it is quite likely that one of his new team members has or will be a victim.

Indeed...its the "Its only a joke" mentality that contributes to trivialising a serious issue.

Saying you battered someone while playing sport is no reference whatsoever to domestic violence.

If he'd said he'd battered his brother at ping pong would there be a fuss about it?

The tweet as far as I am aware was “Relax I’m back chilled – just battered the wife!!! Feel better now!” - can't see any reference to ping pong.
He'd played the wife at table tennis.

The term "Beat" is used throughout sport, to batter someone is to beat them easily, that is the context we are talking about here.

Like I said, a load of PC brigade bollocks again.
