2017/18 Phil Jagielka

It was a massive priority to bring in two new starting centre backs to the club from day 1 of the window, but everyone thought we were fine with Jags and Williams for some reason.
It was perhaps thought we could 'muddle' through with one of those two alongside Keane. May have gotten away with that if we'd carried a goal threat. But not adding the number 1 priority (striker) and a bit of pace through the team, and now the failure to bring another centre back in (to fully oust Jags & Williams) is coming home to roost. And whilst we've brought a lot of players in, those 2 or 3 key positions not filled. Particularly centre forward and centre back number two.

There was hardly anybody that came out of that game with their head held high, but it was an impossible job for the back four who had two totally underperforming midfielders in front of them.

Phil Jagielka was a great servant for us, but is now a squad player. However, I don't believe any centre half could have saved us yesterday as we were totally overrun further up the field.

Never struck me as a leader, now he's not even a good player anymore, a top manager would have sorted this situation out, Koeman seems to toe the line of next oldest gets the armband, I had hoped he would show a little more innovation, the fat ginger chump
