Problem is he is still arguably the best centre back at the club, which is hardly his fault!Money doesn't come into it, it's been done loads of times before. Not comparing their careers or abilities but Peter Reid was booed out of Goodison before he left for QPR. People like loyalty but only if the player is still doing well. Maybe the coach shouldn't pick them?
He's a teachers' pet. Just like Phil Neville before him.
The choice of those two as our captains over the last decade has been telling. We haven't been in it to win and compete; we've been happy plodding along being plucky little Everton.
Sick of it.
His meek acceptance of the red card was nauseating.
More the fact he's absolutely gash now and we have a bunch of new defenders to Gil the spotHe mis times a tackle so his career is at an end ?

Not as nauseating as some of the comments on here about a player who has always done his best for EFC.His meek acceptance of the red card was nauseating.
Hahaha loyalty he's shown? You joking? You think a better club than us has ever shown an interest in signing him from us? Seriously? Loyalty? You're off your head. He's been finished for three years and has happily continued to drain us of over 50 grand a week instead of showing some self respect and moving on to play week in week out at a more suitable level. Loyalty, haha. Hopefully this is the final straw. There is still chance to send him packing before the end of August. I hope we show him the door asap.We all know he's past it, he provably does and is asked to play so as ever, steps up to the plate. The newcomers need to learn the team and system. He's doing a job and has put his body on the line for the team numerous times. Realising this we should act with a bit of class and support the players in our club rather than haranguing them like a bunch of fish wives. True fans should return the loyalty he has shown to the club. Only when you start to grow old yourself, do you start to appreciate the slow decline in your abilities.
I just came in here to write I hope it is his last game for us.....That moment summed up this stage in his career. Poor control and a lunge.
Been a great servant and player over the years. Shouldn’t have been captain.
Don’t think we’ll see much of him this season.
