Everton player of the year 2015/16 Phil jagielka. Some shameful posts on this thread
Nowhere near the player he was in the last few years. He was brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

That season we were woeful, he was less of a turd than most that season. At his best he is probably our best centre half of the premier League era, those days are sadly long gone as father time has caught up. Same as it did for Howard who was equally outstanding and dropped off.

Great servant to the club and been a very good player for us for years. In my opinion never a red because he won the ball but his first touch was an oumar special and gave the ref a decision to make. Think he may have pushed himself to the back of the queue of centre backs with Silva because Holgate looked great when he came on. Hopefully we only see jags now in cup games and around the Christmas run when we have loads of games.

Looked like he was sweating off a stag do again, but thought he was putting in a good performance up until the red. Also gave Schneiderlin what-for when the latter backed out of a challenge/clearance in our box -- he's still got that passion and fight, which some have doubted.

The absolute state of this thread.

Some of you are no better than the Liverpool fans who abused Karius after the CL final.
Is the absolute double truth right there.

We draw with 10 men in a game we were still the best team, and the knives are out for the likes of Baines and Jags who have been great servants to this club.

We should be better than that.

A bit over the top on Jags, time to go yes, but never time for such vitriol.
He doesn't pick himself, and perhaps now Marco has the alternatives in to play instead.

Think some need to look a bit closer at themselves. I don't dispute he was rubbish pre-season, slow, all at sea but how easily you forget we were in total control here for the first 40 minutes (credit: a) Marco Silva b) team) then we had another Everton That Moment.

Jags slipped.. who wouldn't when it started lashing down.. You might say he let the side down but, in true Everton fashion, it was a harsh red (or at the least a 50-50 decision and we, as per usual, had another asshat in charge of one of our games..)

You might do well to recall his great service for our club and this was his first straight red card.. If you actually check his stats you'll see that, for a centre half he has been excellent for 10 years and this is borne out by his 30 odd England caps and a lack of yellow cards (meaning he doesn't get caught out too often). 316 games 21 yellow 1 red for two yellows (93rd minute: Clattenberg) - that's an average of 2 a season.

It’s sad we have allow ourselves to offer him a contract way beyond his capabilities.

Last season should be his last and this season should be retiring to backroom staff as a form of loyalty pension. 38years old centerback in the premiere league is just pushing way too much.
What done is done, I still hope we can win a cup and allow him to retire with a medal for his loyal service.

Jags should not have been sent off for that tackle. Ridiculous! Ball went where he was kicking it so made contact.
He has served his time and needs replacing, agreed.
He wasn’t bad today. The players showed great character and were still the better team with ten men.
Onwards and upwards
We are Everton FC.
