He's a great professional, been a great player and captain but sadly he is just too old now

Thanks for everything though, Jags

I highly, highly doubt that Jagielka is the only player in a leadership position in the changing room. Modern sport has leadership groups, the post of captain is almost ceremonial.

No doubting that Eggs. He's been an admirable servant to Everton Football Club. But, the ironic rub therein that compliment is, a leader he is not. Is he a good bloke?...yes, definitely... but let's be honest: he's a captain who men might follow anywhere...but sadly, it'd only be out of curiosity... and in anticipation of a bit of a snigger.
We need Seamus to be captain.

Accepting the Captain's band in the tumult of last season had to be one of those decisions of putting the club before oneself.

..I don’t recall the club ever being prepared to let him go. Fine professional is Jagielka.
He is no leader. He's a coward on the field and a Soccer AM bants(!) lad off it and in front of the cameras. Would Roy Keane or, dare i say it, Steven Gerrard put up with those antics, or even worse act like that themselves as captain of their teams? He's been a good player for us, and happy to have had him, but his time was half a decade ago and it's a crying shame he's still hanging around.

Thankfully he's way, way down the pecking order now, and with Williams and Rooney gone too, surely the armband will be on Coleman's arm on a permanent basis, which of course is absolutely fantastic news.

Wouldn’t use him as an example. Complete caveman who wouldn’t get through an academy nowadays, far over hyped as a player too.

It's 1937. An ageing Dixie Dean has just been dropped from the Everton first team.

Cue a torrent of telegrams from supporters: 'Get out of our club…'

Said we should have sold him years ago not good enough anymore

But typical Everton re signing players until they’re oaps
