The 'did a job' shouts are massively understating at a top defender he was. I hates him being captain as much as the next man but I think it is effecting people's judgement.

Superb defender, to come back from the injury he had and still reach a level where he was first choice cb for us and selected for England speaks volumes.

I'll never forget when Slippy was England captain and we got knocked out the world Cup after Gerrards back header. No sign of slippy, Jags came out and took the crap flying about straight after the match.

Top man, top player but the right decision by Everton to call time on his career with us.

Great defender, always a fan. Him and Lescott were a superb partnership at one time. The legs have gone in the last few years, but I still maintain he was our best centre half during the Allardyce debacle
