Very good defender with pace, great bloke by all accounts but not sure he’s a great captain. Was always a little too quiet for me.

I like to think it was ruthless and that Brands laughed him out of his office calling him grandad and throwing a bus pass at him.

My favourite player of the Premier League era.

At his best in the 08/09 season he was the finest defender in the league imo. And that was in a season off the back of United and Chelsea contesting the CL final too.

That injury to him cost us the cup final.
To lose him, Arteta and Yakubu was dreadful.

He has given his best years to this club and is only leaving as father time has closed the book.

I am gutted he never tasted Silverware here. I hope he returns in some capacity in the future.
