I've opened up another can of worms here, I see!
The point is that seemingly the older fans have the audacity to suggest that because the Everton of my era isn't as good, we can't have players we consider to be legends. My point is that it's not just about ability -- that's a kopite sentiment if there ever was one. I'll avoid re-hashing my Cahill praise and why I think he is a legend, but ultimately I do think that he is. He, like Ferguson in the 90s, is who represents the time for me. A fighting, battling Everton with a never say die attitude -- perhaps he's not a world class player, but he has a world class endeavour, sense of professionalism and passion for the club.
If older fans don't look at him or Dunc like they look at their own idols, then fair enough that's fine by me. But what these players mean to me as a blue is something beyond mere fanaticism. They are absolute legends to me, and legends because I quite literally will be telling tales of them to the next branches in the RFUS family tree.
