It's the same every summer, the same prophecies of doom. Anyone that's looked at the accounts would fully appreciate that unless we borrow money or sell we don't have any profit to invest in the playing squad. Lescott has yet to go and in case people have forgotten we're in a credit crunch so borrowing isn't easy.

So we averaged around 33,000 at Goodison Park last season, season ticket sales where the highest for years, we sold a ruck load of merchandise and we still need to borrow. Where the hell is all the money the fans pump into the club going??

I think that depends on how ambitious you are as a fan, some people want more than 5th place and the odd cup run, they don't class that as 'BOSS' or 'ACE' like you. Everyone's entitled to there opinion and everyone has different expectations. I can't blame then to be honest, our poor dealings last summer messed up our Uefa cup run and we had a [Poor language removed] start to the season. Some fans, myself included, want to see us go into the season and give ourselves the best possible chance. In the past we haven't done that and it means we are always catching up. As for me, I'm nowhere near as worried as I was last season - atleast we have a team that is able to compete. I would like to see one or two players in before the Arsenal game though, I must say.

I'm more relaxed too, and similarily would be happier with a couple of decent signings.
And check you having a dig at my low expectations, I'd love us to win the league but we haven't got the spending power of the top four so we have to bridge the gap bit by bit benefitting from a quality manager with a long term vision.
That takes time, so although I think were BOSS or ACE at the moment, I might not consider it so in 5 years time.
The thread called for perspective, which is sadly missing from many of our fans. So hence why I don't take lightly to over the top comments, we've been here before haven't we.

wages? thats my guess

We'll have to see how the land lies when the window closes. At this point we're three squad members down and the message from the man who matters most is that we should expect a Bosman or two and a loan, in other words, another roll of the dice with peripheral squad members. Operating under the huge constraints placed on him by the clowns running the club, that's fair enough for me, but only IF we keep Lescott. You cant underestimate what losing JL will do: it's there in every single interview an Everton player has given. The effect would be disastrous. Personally, I think anyone expecting 5th this season has rocks in their head. We'll struggle to get into Europe. The big movment is going to come off the pitch. This stadium issue will be resolved and the club's ownership issue will be settled once and for all. Who knows, maybe next summer we might even be able to buy without the threat of having to sell hanging over the manager's head.

i read somewhere awhile ago that st's,gate recpiets, merchandise basicly pays wages loans and the day to day running of the club but what do i know for sure am only a fan

As has been said, wages mainly. Clubs typically spend in excess of 50% of their income on wages.

We fans are the ones who run the club and we are being made mugs of.

It's all about opinion and expectations though isn't it - that's what forum's are all about. Unless someone is going way over the top I don't think they should be shot down.

Alot of fans just want us to maximise our potential, give ourselves the best possible chance of having a good start to the season and avoid messing up, like we did in the Uefa cup last season.

Going into the season with our best three players out isn't the way forward, neither is going into the season with kids, players playing out of position and no signings.

The club can improve and some fans want to see that happen, no ones asking for three 20 million players or even a League title, just improvement, improving how we do things.

For me, the ones (not mentioning any names) who say 'it's all good' are as bad as the ones who make out that's it's all doom and gloom. I can't stand either.

This forum is generally more positive, you will have noticed that when you signed up to it.
If people don't like then there are plenty to choose from. People preaching doom on here are likely to be not to popular.
What happens if people can't stand posters who obsess over over rated Portugese loan flops and tactics? Perspective mate.
