So far this season we've had 5 penalties against us and none for us.

Surely we are due one?

It's all Andy Johnsons fault

Since the 2007/8 season we've scored 26 penalties, and from memory we've missed 4 or 5 (Johnson in Europe ballooning it over the bar after it being retaken, maybe an Arteta miss? Saha v Burnley, Arteta v Wigan, Baines v Chelsea at home).

So we've had around 30 penalties 7 and a half years.

Of the teams who have been in the PL throughout the seasons in the table, we've had fewest penalties.

It's a disgrace, especially when you consider that those barcode [Poor language removed] got 2 handed to them after getting battered. Listening to their preview before the Stoke match on final score, and somebody was banging on about their push for Europe. The media are literally chomping at the bit to get those inbreds into the top 5.

Always thought they had a pact with the Devil, even more so than our whinging rivals across the park.

We rarely get into the box to get penalties tbh. Yesterday for example, all of our efforts came from outside of the box.

On other occasions our players are too honest and would rather stay on their feet and screw a shot wide due to being off balance.

Roberto needs to instill come of that Spanish playacting* into them if it means getting us into the top four.

*not cheating, but taking advantage of fouls to ensure referees make the right decisions

No, no, no, Butters! I'd rather lose than cheat and even your astarix is cheating. I tell the boys I coach that if I see them dive, I'd sub them off. They get the message. It's a sport, or it's nothing.

penalties are great, but I'd rather score a 30 yard screamer rifled into the top corner, like Coleman's at Swansea

I think we've had one penalty in the League since the start of last season. That's one in 56 games.

We should have had penalties against Man City and Spurs, and as for the foul on Baines at Cardiff, words fail me!

This is actually quite a problem for us. I love all the snappy passing, but if we don't ever look to take defenders on at the edge of the box and get inside the area, we can hardly complain that we don't get many penalties.

In light of yesterdays events, I'd say it's either Howard's, Osman's or Martinez's fault. Perhaps we should start a thread to discuss it?
