Owen plus Jo on loan would mean that at least one of the current bunch of strikers is leaving, if not two. Yakubu will be fit and then there's Saha, Vaughan and Anichebe. Victor is an obvious choice but after that I think any of the other three is available for the right price. Yakubu because he could fetch serious money and because he is a bit too inconsistent and Saha and Vaughan because of the questionmarks over their continued fitness.

The mirror also said this morning Owen has more or less joined us.

Firstly the title was "Owen Is A True Blue", then the article said something like "owen is set to turn down Hull, and take a pay cut to play for Everton".

I don't want Owen, but that is the type of attitude I want players playing for Everton to have.

Agreed. That he would turn down Hull for Everton really shows his commitment.

He's been on ~£100k a week for years, dropping £10k a week to get into a top side ahead of a relegation battler isn't showing that much commitment

I meant dropping £10k a week from Hulls proposed £60k a week, to our proposed £50k a week, not £100k a week to £90k a week.

Realistically speaking, Owen wont be taking any wage drop. As from 1st July he is available on a free and is currently out of contract, so if your not earning, you cant have a drop in salary.

I dont get the money grabbing stuff leveled at him, never seemed like a money grabber to me.

Probably from the age of 21 hes had enough money for the rest of his life.

A lot of people are saying they wouldnt blame Lescott for leaving because he would be doubling his money, yet we criticise Owen for halving his wage and then chooseing us even though the compitition are allegedly offering more.

Doesnt make sense.

Always thought he was older to be honest. Been around for yonks!

Still...strikers usually pop their cloggs before defenders, either way I was implying Lescott is younger, and you could understand why he would want to move more.

Like Alan Shearer and Ted Sheringham like.

So Lescott wants to leave to double his salery = cool!

Owen more then halves his wages to come sign for us = money grabber!

Makes sense!

In actual fact if Lescott signs a four year deal and Owen signs a 2 year deal they will be same age at the end of their contracts.
