Look dude, get a grip. This is a game - its called football. I think people are so caught up in the money situation that they forget this.

I know everyones spoken about Cahill, but he is the best example to use. He is 29 or 30, whatever, but not only is he a legend, he plays ******* well and is a player that we want at the club not only for his ability, but because he epitomises everything this clubs about. And hes ******* awesome.

The thread is a piss take surely?

I assumed it was, anybody that says we should "cash in" on Cahill has clearly lost the plot.

Anyone who finds one point out of many, and is incapable of discussing anything other than that point is unworthy of my attention.

Amongst other points, I believe I wrote : Our oldest players, though playing well now, are in the majority reaching their sell by date, and after this season, we should consider cashing in while we have the chance. Players like Cahill , Howard, and Saha may bring big money if they have another good season.

Now move along, before I call you naughty names and pull your hair.:coffee:

And your views on anything else? Nope? Didn't think so. (n):)

Ok, I dont agree that we should sell our oldest players.

Cahill is far too important, any fee we would get would not replace a player of his worth, its not just what he brings in terms of talent, consider his goals, consider his team spirit, consider his fight, but more importantly consider how much he loves the Club and the fans. Cahill is Everton Football Club.

Howard, why would we sell our number 1 goalkeeper? I agree that we need to get somebody else in, somebody to challenge his postion, but its pointless selling a keeper, when we dont have a decent back up.

Saha, I admit I wanted to sell him to the Turks, but now hes proving his worth, he won us countless games last season and hes done the same again this season. So we should sell Saha? And Vaughan and Anciebe will get us even a quarter of the goals he does? No sorry.

Why didnt you put your little bum chum Hibbert on the sell list? We have loads of Right backs within the squad and hes clearly the worst 1?

But we cant afford to sell squad players, nevermind 1st team players.

Hope this helps, any other points you would like me to address, feel free to post them.

And I have no hair to pull, plus you aint man enough to walk in these shoes boy.

There will always be a position on the pitch for experience and a cool head to set an example, especially a player that has played in pressure situations for club and country. Phil Neville.
Howard is only 30 and has a decade in front of him if he so wishes. He is a keeper remember. With a solid enough core at the moment the smart money is on bolstering the youth side to bring a few replacements through long term, so that when the Fellaini's and Rodwell's are the experienced heads in the first team that they in turn pass on the experience and example they are garnering now.
Hate to point at ManU twice in one post, but look how Ferguson and the ressies boss brought through the so called golden generation, it is what Wenger keeps trying to do. That is the key, you watch Real Madrid get half as far as their spending means they should - the crop they brought in before Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema, Alonso, will be on their way. Van der vaart has already been shown the door, Ruud van was almost a prem player again. Where are the experienced outfielders in their side that know the Real Madrid way? can so many super-ego's play together and will they accomplish anything without a Keane/Vieira type talisman? Moyes appears to be trying to sign England under 21 players, and that tells me he is aware of the '6+5 rule' that is or is close to being brought in. And that getting quality together early enough to develop and learn together is the prefered method of squad integration (think Beckham and G.Neville)

Exactly. We've got a thin squad and some key members are aging. That should mean we shouldn't sell anyone, surely?

I mean even looking beyond Cahill, we don't have a young and upcoming goalkeeper ready to take Howard's space. And given that Jo's on his way back to City and how inconsistent Vaughan and Anchibe, we don't have really any cover for Yakabu outside Saha, either.

Use them until we can't, I say. We're not good enough at attracting players to guarantee that we can find younger replacements even if we do sell.

My view there sums up what I think. Take it or leave it son. These guys play for my team, I dont want them to leave.

My little bum chum Hibbert?
He is still young, and our most experienced player. Why on earth would we sell him?

I AM NOT HIBBO (y)
