Can any Americans on here tell me what happens to the scumbag who was posting the pictures in a case like this? The amount of money feels largely arbitrary as it is an impossible amount. Will he have to declare bankruptcy?

Doesn't it depend on what state they're in? I think some states protect peoples' assets, making a judgement like this nothing more than symbolic.

Looks like it was a civil case so sadly no jail. Possible bankruptcy, but I hope he's order to pay out for the rest of his life after a big lump sum.

The right has weaponised several words and phrases that came about around concepts of empathy and inclusion, we have seen wilful idiots buy into it and throw around woke as an insult and more egregious individuals and organisations profiteer from it often using imagined threats against children to stoke more fear and hatred. Not so long ago I thought that one of the greatest things to happen in recent years was that there was less discrimination of the LGBTQ community.
Seems that’s all quickly getting reversed now cos some sociopath politicians and grifters need a payday. Of course there has to be a willing audience.

I've always felt society moves forward and the bigots get left behind eventually in terms of inclusivity at least on a social level if not financially, but the last 5-6 years I've seriously started to doubt that as the likes of brexit, trump and johnson defended by one eyed morons no matter what, and with that wave of populism they need common enemies as they can't impress on policy or good ideas. Why not choose a common enemy that is younger and different and can be punched down at, the Lee Attwater playbook is still there for all to see in the right.

TBF like most conspiracy theories it does have at its heart an essential truth, that modern men on the right are weak.

A hundred years ago in the US, working class men in places like West Virginia were shot at with machine guns for forming unions and displaying class solidarity; now their great-grandsons worship a New York billionaire. I struggle to think of any other time in US (or UK history for that matter) when millions of people would openly praise someone who pretty openly urinates in their chips, to sacrifice their friends, family, independence and even their souls on his altar.

The people who rule us have absolute contempt for us, as all conmen do for their marks. We are stupid so its our fault they con us.
