On a positive note....

Yes it does. How's about a little pride. We never gave up, constantly moving on and off the ball, played some decent ball inbetween, always going forward looking for a goal, not giving up accepting defeat. Unlucky with the finishing and if the defense did their job....well.

we lost 3-0. We get no points. The players lose confidence. Playing well helps us how?

two homes games, two losses. next up - the [Poor language removed].

no kancho playing this time though.

lets say cahill gets back, will he be fit and who does he replace, vaughan worked hard today and ran the ball down.

FFS, why not just bugger off then. Obviously the only thing that matters to you is winning. It kind of ironic that your signature scoffs at other being glory hunters. Maybe you should look at yourself before criticizing others.

We played quite well today. We also lost a game by 3 goals to nothing. IT HAPPENS. Football is 'a funny old game'.

Why not look for the positives instead of focusing on the negative, which does nobody any good at all.

Agree with that, Dylan. It bodes well if we play with pride and can show glimmers of excellence. A few parts were missing today so we can hope that this isn't a signifier of the rest of the season.

Although, I am contradicting myself here, if you feel you play well and lose or get stuffed it can absolutely diminish confidence. Fiorentina effect. I reallu hope it doesnt happen

Yes we should look for positives. We just lost at home to a poor side 3-0, so its hard to find positives in that.
I'm in no way a glory hunter, just a very worried Evertonian about how our club is going right now.

was an absolute disaster conceded 3 very soft goals never looked like scoring

portsmouth completley dominated midfield our defence were all over the place.

forwards never looked like scoring.

we need at least another 3 top players just to match portsmouth.

I have to agree, We played some decent stuff today generally. I you play well, you'll win more than you'll lose
We played some decent stuff today. Only problem, apart from the major lapses in defence were as follows:

Yak: Played too deep for me, leaving Vaughan further forward
Arteta: Hardly in the game
Osman: Anonymous
Rodwell (or was it Jags) confident on the ball, most distrbutions were well. Always looking for the ball, and being given it.
Baines: best player for us going forward, Had little to do going back. Had more of the ball than arteta, and its easy to see with this performance why he ain't leaving us,if that were ever true.

Portsmouth packed their defence and we played to their strength, making it easy money for them today. we didn't have that many clear cut chances, and we really didn't frighthen them. On another day, we'd probably score 4 goals.

Vaughan was a bit anonymous too.

And Neville had a decent game by his standards. Especially on the attacking end.

This is proof that you only see what you want to see. Lots of people 'watched' a dire game. I mean they have basically only seen the scoreline and that is how the game went.

I saw us playing well, even when down.

We did play ok ,another worry was ossie hobbling off we need midfielders like we have never needed them before.
We are in a mess though as a club whether you are negative or positive the reality is jagielka and rodwell in the centre of midfield for a premiership match and a manager that looks like he has had enough

positives

we didnt lose 4 - 0
we didnt have anyone red carded
we didnt have anyone injured badly

hmmm, getting a bit thin from here on....

fans didnt throw their season tickets onto the pitch
there was no earthquake

We have to focus on the negatives right now because its them which is costing us games.

Yes we did play well today. 3-0 is not a fair reflection of the game and it could so easily of been 2-1 us.

Yes James made some top quality saves to deny us.

Yes we looked very dangerous going down the left wing.

Maybe luck wasn't on our side today. Even with a dodgy penalty. But even then it should of been a 0-0 or at worse a 0-1 loss.

But the fact is that we conceded 3 soft goals for the second home game of the season.

I believe that with a decent midfield we will be the same team we were last season. But right now we dont have that, we dont look like having it for a while yet and by the time we get it the damage may well be done.

Mainly central midfield though. Playing defenders and kids there didnt work last season and is not working now. 2 decent midfielders with good positional sense to protect its defence, an ability to tackle well and to pass the ball to a teammate and things would be different.
