Old Photos Of Where You Live

A priceless masterpiece, iirc, it's kept under a big wooden(?) cover and only comes out on special occasions.
Back in the late 60s Plesseys Social club hired it for for one of their big Friday Disco evenings.
the full monty - boards off, 100s of drunks dancing on the mosaics, 2 licensed bars, snacks & finger food, people smoking cigarettes and cigars...what could go wrong.
British Heritage would have a fit now.
All us youngsters...and some not so young piled out at 11.30 11.45 and hit the clubs

Just watched this on BBC iPlayer. Very depressing,if it was filmed in 1959 then I'd have been 6 years old and although I remember a few bomb sites nowhere near to the extent shown in the documentary. Have to admit I don't recognise anywhere in the film other than maybe the opening scene that looks like Everton.

Liverpool Corporation rod flower bed displays on traffic islands - I used to say to my foreman on HUDC is this not a waste of money -when starting - he answered son if it was not done the council would waste the money elsewhere - How correct he was as he showed me how much could be produced for the local authority Trees Shrubs & bedding plants - all at a good VFM of top quality plants all propagated in the council nursery - we run a tree nursery , shrub & bedding plant - pot plant nursery - far better than the council could purchase outside ...

Similar, I used crosvilles H8 to H16 and the corpy 6s. The 89 was also useful if I missed my 81 home from school (in Hunts Cross)
