999 - Local media noted that Everton transfer target Joe Max Moore, who had been in talks with manager Walter Smith about signing for EFC, had returned to the U.S. in order to obtain a work permit.
1978 - Dukla Prague 1-0 Everton. The Blues lost 0-1 in Prague in a UEFA Cup 2nd round 2nd leg match, meaning this tie finished 2-2 on aggregate & the Blues exiting the competition on away goals.
1969 - Everton 1-0 Nottingham Forest. The Blues continued their run of good form & retained top spot in the table with a hard fought 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Goodison. Tommy Wright scored EFCs only goal.

1977 - Middlesbrough 1-2 Everton. In a rare Monday night game for this era, the Blues won their League Cup 3rd round replay at Ayresome Park, with goals from Mike Lyons & Jim Pearson.

1931 - Everton 8-1 Newcastle United. A huge win for the league leaders EFC over the hapless Geordies, thanks to goals from Dixie Dean (2), Tommy Johnson (2), Tommy White (2), Ted Critchley & Jimmy Stein.
2009 - Everton 1-1 Aston Villa. Honours even in a score draw at Goodison. Bilyaletdinov gave EFC the lead just before half time & was later sent off for a challenge on Petrov. John Carew scored a 2nd half equaliser & Villa had Carlos Cuellar sent off for a foul on Yakubu.
1998 - Everton 1-4 Man Utd. A bad day for the Blues, later gaining more significance with Duncan Ferguson scoring Everton’s only goal. This would be Dunc’s final goal of his 1st EFC spell, as he would be sold to Newcastle just over 3 weeks later for £7m.
1990 - Sheff Utd 2-1 Everton. EFC fell to defeat in the Rumbelows Cup at Bramall Lane in what would be Colin Harvey’s final match as EFC boss. By todays standards Harvey’s 4th, 8th & 6th finishes & a cup final app was good but EFC craved the success enjoyed under Kendall.

1961 - Everton 3-0 Tottenham Hotspur. In front of a crowd of more than 54000 fans at Goodison, Harry Catterick’s Blues beat the reigning FA Cup winners, Spurs, 3-0 with 2 goals from Frank Wignall & 1 from Billy Bingham.
