I'm sticking to Northampton. After posting I looked back and 65/66 they had their one season in top division.
I'm embellishing my thought process by looking at the sketchy picture and seeing a field full of grass no bare patches in the area. We played them first home game of the season!
First game after I was born (from a recent thread) 5-2 win. 2 for Pickering, 2 for Temple and Alex Young with the first (competitive) everton goal of my life.

22nd January 1972 Jimmy Husband beats West Brom keeper, John Osborne, to score in a 2-1 win for the Blues -

if you read the caption that lad is a young girl :)

I was looking at it on my phone and the caption was too small to read.....that's my excuse anyway.

Now on PC. I noticed one of the mates appeared to be wearing a skirt though.

Your forgiven LOL to think now how a powerful popular women's football is, my older sister used to play football with the lads in the old days a really good player showing the lads up - was sent packing as she was scoring too many goals ........she seemed to have the pace the my older brother , and myself that held us back playing the game at a higher level ....
In today's environment now I joke with her to remind her she may have made it as a footballler....LOL.....

I remember being stood in the ground (Goodison Road) in about 64/65 and getting threatened by a huge bloke that he'd punch my f***ing lights out if I didn't stop criticising big Joe. Needless to say, I kept my trap shut!
65/66 more likely - wasn't the infamous 3rd round cup tie at Blackpool in 1966 his debut?
