I remember being stood in the ground (Goodison Road) in about 64/65 and getting threatened by a huge bloke that he'd punch my f***ing lights out if I didn't stop criticising big Joe. Needless to say, I kept my trap shut!

Was having a clear-out earlier and found this photo down the back of an old cupboard. I took the pic way back in the days when we were good... 1984/85 Season I believe, a few days after the Bayern Munich game; no doubt someone can correct me on that. It's not the most exciting photo, and it's pretty scratched up, but as far as I can recall I've never uploaded it any place before, so should be the first time seen on here.

Around 30,000, mate. It was hard going money-wise for a lot of people in the 80s and that season we had a lot of games: with an ECWC Final and FA Cup Final to find the money for. A lot of supporters would sacrifice a few league matches in order to afford to go to the bigger games. We would forgo a proper meal and eat gravel and wood shavings just to save some money... but they were happier times.

My 5th Birthday present in May that year was the blue round collar shirt, white shorts and socks, and my Mum ironed on a number 8!
