Old Everton Pictures

...some of the recent pictures have been outstanding, Joey. Some really interesting stuff you’re posting. It’s not surprising the odd caption is wrong in books given the time span.
My son bought me the latest version of adobe photo its far superior to the one I had - just got two old books today on the great Tommy Lawton ;)
he left us to soon after his divorce to his wife in Liverpool, and later stated he regretted his move as he divorced the wrong club toolol

...yep, those pictures of Lawton were brilliant, his goalscoring record is incredible. It’s a shame some stories have come to light regarding his finances but I suppose nothing can take his football exploits away.

My comedy hero and a Blue Rigsby AKA Leonard Rossiters favourite player too Joey:)

Kay took the money because he thought he could play along and come to no harm. We would do the same if you had no intention of cheating (hence his performance on the day). Trouble was it was a sting and he got stung. Dishonest form of capturing (so called) wrong doing. You would need several examples of this for a court to convict on solid evidence (assuming a decent barrister) in the present day. By way of example a hungry man might take a small sum of money but that doesn't make him a thief.

Pretty much the way my old fella described things...said it was petty.

Would love to have seen him play though...my old fella says he was top drawer.

He scored that night we won promotion at Oldham, from about forty yards, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the only goal Tommy scored for Everton, apart from penalties, he scored a few of them. A very solid and reliable centre half. Tommy served Everton well.
I noticed in those days his scoring record was not that bad - played for the The football league side...

It’s a fact that Everton considered seeing Sheffield Wed. for the barristers fees defending Tony, Everton paid these fees
over £2,000 in Tony’s defence. I think they should have sued them for the transfer fee as well, the offence was committed while Tony played for Wednesday. Tragic for Tony, even more tragic for The Blues, a great, great player.
