Duncan mckenzie

I’ve seen a few players over the last 50/60 years, Ball, Young and co from our club, Best and mercurial players from elsewhere etc, but Duncan was without doubt the most naturally gifted and talented player I’ve ever seen, he could literally do anything with a ball, and he always smiled while doing it. We only had him a couple of years, same as everyone I suppose, but he was an absolute joy to watch, we didn’t win anything of course, but then again we’re not winning anything now.........

I agree he was indeed magic. Gordon Lee didn't fancy him so the writing was on the wall when Lee came. Standing ovation when he returned a Chelsea player and scored the opening goal (I think) similar situation when Joe Royle scored at Goodison for Norwich when they beat us 2-0 (once again I think).

I 'think' it was against Arsenal -
Alan Ball ran to take a quick throw in on line with their penalty box. He then relaxed his body as if exasperated that no Everton player was in position to receive the throw. As he did this an Arsenal player 10 ft from him turned his back to organise the defence. Quick as a flash Bally threw the ball and controlled the rebound from the players back to set up an attack.
I got booked in a Sunday league kids game for replicating that.
