I was at that game and cheered it in along with everyone else,never have I heard an opposition goal receive such a loud ovation.

I was there as well. That ovation he got was like two fingers up to the club for selling him.

Not sure about these days, but applauding excellent play from the opposition used to be quite normal, albeit it'd have to be really special. I remember that Ipswich game. I think we beat them 2-1 in the cup at Goodison not too long after.

I remember we applauded Arsenal off the pitch at Goodison too.

You're correct Mikey I was in GS also, he slotted it in the corner and didn't celebrate,had the pleasure of meeting him at a book signing a couple of years ago he loves Everton.
