I've agreed with that, within the USA. But externally he has been shown to be a coward, with red lines that he then ignores, and that is no way for the worlds foremost power to behave. Do or don't do, but don't threaten and not follow up, that's what allows the likes of ISIS to grow........

He didn't support the iraqi republic when isis flat out invaded it and was happy to let syria fall into anarchy while also destablising yemen and libya and it wasn't until france started being blown up that he twigged that maybe letting a bunch of lunatics run wild across the middle east wasn't the world's best idea.

I think he was frightened of engaging US 'boots on the ground'.....happy to bomb anyone, but not willing to stomach body bags....which unfortunately always results in more deaths, not Americans perhaps but more deaths nonetheless.........

Yes, Pete, I can kind of see what you're saying but FFS the thing that's really allowing ISIL to grow is a racist, imperialist view of the world. Can you imagine if - I don't know - Russia or Iran had invaded Spain, France and the UK, largely in their own interests? Seriously, FFS. We need to stop being so arrogant and think we are "saving the world."

Young British Muslims are much more likely to sign up for a cause that they see as at odds with the one that has totally failed them - we'd pretty much do the same, I'm sure.

Your fantasy is to go against all sound reason and logic. I am still waiting for you to point me to a reputable independent study that says the UK will be better off outside the EU.

Of course. It is crazy to believe that the USA, the West or anyone else can 'police' the world. But when bad stuff happens, the shout from Liberals is always 'something must be done', when actually we could just allow it to take it's natural course, with many dead, and then deal with whoever triumphs. Or we could just look after our own interests, and providing whatever trouble is taking place doesn't stop the flow of oil etc to ourselves, we could happily sit back. But is that what you really want, or do you want us to intervene to stop the mayhem and murder because we can't have it all ways.......

You made the fantasy comment against my post that said we are a small country, which we are, the 5th largest economy, which we are, and the 4th/5th largest military budget, which we have. So which bit of this was fantasy.........
