Battled amazing, rode our luck. Deserved penalties. Sadly a fortunately effort went in with more or less last kick...

Yeah, was gutting to lose it like that Barn. Me and my son were on coach 3. We don't do all the aways, but we've been to a good few now. Hereford, Buxton, Scunthorpe, Halifax, Macclesfield and more. Was hoping the Marine journey would take us to Wembley, but alas. It's been a great journey though. Tamworth away was incredible, one of the best days I've had at the footy in a long while.

Know exactly what you mean mate. I had my aunties 3rd husband, who's normally an alright feller, and could bore you stiff with tales of Everton in the 70's, drunkenly tellling me that I shouldn't support another football team.

I hate to say it Barn, but if we ever drew Marine in the cup, I'd be hard pushed to support Marine. But that's fine, I am what I am. I'm a blue, and that passion runs through me from when I was a toddler. I have an affinity with Marine though. I grew up in L23. I lived in the maisonettes in Thornton until I was 7, and then moved to the Brownmoor/Rimrose estate and lived there until I was 21. I even played a school cup final at Marine for my Primary School (St. William of York), and the release supporting Marine and non-league footy has given me in recent years has been amazing.

Even this thread is an amazing place, it's a microcosm of non league footy. I've pondered just starting a specific Marine thread in here before today, but ultimately thought 'nah, what's the point, there's already a great little community in THIS thread, which is free of all the bullcrap you get with PL social media.'

K’s in good form - they can be the judge whether we’ve got the wobbles when they come to the Grove on Wednesday…

We’ve just had a seven game winning streak and playing in a hurricane on Tuesday night will have taken a lot out of the players. TBF to Portchester, they executed their game plan well and we can’t complain about the result.

We need eight points from six games to guarantee the title, and that’s assuming perfection from those who can still catch us. Very much a case of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’.

Want us to set up the title with an away win at Littlehampton on Saturday, then to confirm it at home vs Met Police on Easter Monday. Allowing for dropped points by Westfield and Moneys in between, that allows for an honourable draw on Wednesday night.

Great win for my local team on Saturday v a very good Newtown team, the win all but guarantees we can’t get relegated this season and we will have the summer now to strengthen ready for next season
