City of Liverpool came in all balshy when they first came into the scene.
Marine, Bootle, Cables all have significant history. The initial Bootle initially played in the football league.
The came in, talking everyone down, particularly Marine.
The majority of "purps" were exiled Reds, as such they were founded off a Liverpool forum, and when Liverpool had a few bad years, as FC United discovered, when the novelty wears off, and the winning slows, as does the fun, and Liverpool becoming good again really impacted them
There are two main fellas running it, got to say i have a lot of time for one, but the other was arrogant, and subsequently his actions caused a majority of their issues.
They moved to Bootle, and regularly threatened their board, they refused to pay debts owed... I think one was for about £100, which they paid with minutes to spare.
Initially, they got too balshy and Bootle ejected them. Then moved to Vauxhall, where similar non-Payments were found, and they were ejected.
Crowds at this stage were dwindling, and they moved back to Bootle where they got up to similar antics. To which they finally got ejected.... and a move to Widnes reckoned.
The owners pushed the fans further and further, and the crowds dwindled. (By owners, I mean main men).
Anyone who has been to Halton Stadium, will know its dreadful. When youre getting crowds of 200, its a killer. The rent was astronomical as Widnes FC found out.
Finally, a move to Burscough this season. Burscough is a fantastic club, they lost a little soul when they lost their ground, but theyve got a great club, a great set up. And they still didnt pay them. Eventually ejected.
Belittled Merseyside non league scene, couldn't pay Bootle x 2, Vauxhall & Burscough.
Southport ejected from Senior Cup this year for refusing to host the Purps (LSC the gates are split evenly). As COL didnt pay wages of a loan player, which Col dispute.
COL have just withdrew from LSC against Runcorn.
The ground move, for me, was asking a huge demand for a small area. The councillor, William Shortall was sent death threats and all sorts. The ground was derillect, but you cant have a side who could become a FL side playing there; the footprint just was too small.
Finally, the fans tried to take over the club in the summer, the ones who remain (the majority have deferred to Lower Breck, so I am told), but failed to provide the books. Theyre now at St. Helens and announced theyve got no money. The Chairman's son has even managed a game this season, so I am told.
Moral of the story, Prescot announced cut backs in recent times. Met with support from local Non-League community. Yet now the Purps are on their arse, and there's no sympathy? Theres no smoke without fire.
Non League demands more and more money nowadays, you dont need bad tenants.
I would assume its a formality that they fold at the end of the season. One thing you cant deny, its been eventful.
