Non League Football

Not going today but Thornton Cleveleys away at Woolton.

I’m off to watch our reserves in the west Lancashire league at home to league leaders Stoneclough.

ISUZU FA Trophy 4th Round

Marine 1-1 Gloucester City
Marine win 4-3 on penalties

Last 16 for Marine for thr first time in a while, with a nervy pe although win over 10-man Gloucester. 965 there.

Gloucester took lead early, but Mari e leveled through a 16 year old lad.

Draw 3:15pm where sides like Walton & Hersham (see @Alan Whittle above) and Chatham Town (who beat Carlisle) await.

Wasn’t expecting to win against yet another team two tiers above us at this late stage in the competition but having gone in 2-0 at halftime, now disappointed to have gone out. Still, a decent run and a big crowd (over 1,600 - three times the season’s average). Back to the business of trying to win the league I guess… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hadn't seen that. I saw The Tanners were 2 up. Horsham are a decent side and playing 2 levels above so you gave it a good go. Is Ian Selly still the manager?

He is - built a really good squad from scratch at the start of last season, and that continuity is really paying off this season. Four points clear at the top with games in hand, so hopefully we can keep that going. 🤞🏻

I follow Kingstonian but seldom go as the club is such a complete shambles and the fans (who themselves are hardly united) are up in arms at the Board. It has been a shambles for years and are now in danger of dropping to the Combined Counties League. The last decent team they had was managed by Hayden Bird who then took Leatherhead to the play offs.

Sad to see what’s happened to K’s over the years. They were in the playoffs last season but looks like they had a lot of change in the team since, and like you say, they’re struggling in the bottom four ATM. Ground shared with us for a while and without being biased, they deserve to be playing at a better ground than PGF. One of the worst surfaces I’ve seen.

Shame. Was hoping for Leatherhead yesterday. The idea of a trip to Horsham doesnt warm the cockles.
