Nikica Jelavic

Which he pulls off once or twice a season at best. He's never been a prolific striker, even when playing in very good sides for the level he's been at, barring one season only for Reading.

Avoid like the plague IMO - he's a mid- to lower Premier League standard striker.

I will defer to your greater knowledge. I have not watched Long at any length. But you must admit those goals he scored vs Villa were humdingers

Long reminds me of Cahill, he's a right pain in the arse to play against comes up with a fair few goals.

Crowd would love him.

Then again if we're looking to replace Jelavic an empty carton of Um Bongo could do the same job as him, useless lump.

Id probably get laughed at, but what about Shane Long, was going for £6m in the Summer but in Jan will only have 6 months left on his contract. Ship Jelavic out for £4m, put all that to Shane Long, would be a very good backup to Lukaku i reckon.

Has it really come to this? He is really not very good. Hull want him. That's about his level

What price do you think we'd get for jelavic , he really isn't ever going to be the same player for us I don't think.
I would not be so sure Defoe is ready to hang up his boots in the premiership yet either , would score more than the current forwards at spurs for sure

...you mean he is good at converting dodgy penalties?

Defoe has scored 142 goals for Tottenham and this year overtook their all time European scoring record.

That's about 10 less than Graeme Sharp and he's our greatest ever post-war striker, baffling how some people think Defoe is some run of the mill forward, he'll take the absolute piss in the MLS.

Oh and Jelavic has been gash for AGES.

The only questions surrounding Jelavic now are when he goes and how much he goes for. Barring a Lukaku injury before the end of January I think we've seen him play his last match for Everton. In fact, I think Martinez would go with Mirallas upfront before he ever turned to Jelavic again.

I really wouldn't mind seeing that if the situation arose

Yeah, we have options. Jelavic and Heitinga out and fund a new forward with the proceeds would be ideal business for Everton in January.

Preferably a quality forward that can have a period to settle in as cover for Lukaku, and then when he heads back off to Chelsea we have someone ready to step in that doesn't need to adjust.

This all sounds to simple

It would have to be a big signing for this as you cannot simply replace lukaku with your average joe . Bring in a young striker like berahino from west from let them bed in and then give them the second striker role while Kone demotes to third Choice . Think we are best if we sell jelavic use the funds to help us buy someone of lukaku standard an promote someone within like vellios or Conor
