Nikica Jelavic

Was told in November (by an exceptional source ) & Posted on here that there had been issues over finances . Jelavic having been excellent last year and being advised by those close to him (no his agent ) was asking for a rise on his personal terms . The talks didn't go particularly well and I'm not surprised it coincided with a downturn on form.

Apparently he's a decent lad but Jelavic is heavily influenced by people close to him namely his family and I really believe that's what happened here .

To be fair to him he's ran his legs off all season regardless.

I think we need to keep Jelavic but just add to the numbers and quality upfront and either Remy or Negredo are good shouts!.

Nail on head!!

You need 3/4 strikers at your disposal. Utd have worked that way for years. Granted they have Europe to consider and the extra finances to be able to do it so in our case we'd probs have to settle for 3

Anichebe jelavic and add negredo or remy...job done!

Agreed mate and I think he's well thought of as well but quite easily influenced but given the family history it's not too surprising

Can you see him being here next season Sheeds?

From my point of view he's not the first to go to a big championships and then struggle the next year.

Think it depends if we bring another striker in & the manager tells him he's looking to use him from the bench or its obvious that's the plan then I think he'll be looking to move . I think that's really what the article is saying .

Anichebe on form, Jelavic fit and firing plus another good striker would put us in good stead ahead of the new season.

Will it happen? Nah.

I think story is bulls***, he is maybe unhappy for not starting every game, but all good footballers want to start every game.
I think we should keep him, last season he was scoring for fun, this season he can't score some pretty easy chances, but he is a good option to have, especially if we get to EL or CL, we need Vic(who has had a lot of injuries over his career), him and maybe even 1 more striker.
Jelavic if in form is my number one striker, if not a good sub to have.
This season playing bad he scored some crucial goals( vs Spurs winner, vs Sunderland winner, vs Saints 2 goals)
And I think he likes it here, just see his goal vs Manc how much he loved it, and he has a good understanding with Vic,Distin,Felli and other guys.

Players who aren't playing are naturally going to consider their future surely ?

But he has played most of the season sheeds, if he is not mentally strong enough to fight through a barren spell without questioning whether or not he wants to be here, after losing his place via loss of form, no other reason then it says a lot about his character to be honest.

A lot of players go through second season syndrome when they come to the EPL. I am not saying the lad has gone through that and has been sussed by the teams in the EPL but it,s getting harder and harder to find strikers who bang them in every season on a double digit basis.

I think it's a few different things with him. As sheeds says he's got people in his ear. He hasn't had the full pre-season. Last years form was never going to be maintainable but we all know we imagine the best especially egotistical footballers, so he's lacking a bit of confidence.

I'd still have him as our main man next year.
