Nikica Jelavic

Dont know if its already been mentioned but there was one moment that totaly highlighted jellys lack of confidence last night. In the 1st half he was given a superb pass and if he had turned or let the ball run he would have been through both centre halfs on the edge of the area, alas, he played safe and passed it off chance gone! Do clubs still use those sports psychologists that were all the rage a few yrs back?

He isn't our only target in the attacking third any longer and the team chemistry seems to be missing. He is still getting opportunities but I've noticed many occasions where Pienaar or Osman have elected other options rather than looking for Jelavic.

Combine that with his recent failures to finish, general lack of pace, and tendency to drift wide to find the game and you have a mediocre striker regardless of his work rate. Unless Moyes trades some of the focus on possession for some risk-taking in the final third, this will continue.

Fingers are crossed that the planets align and he gains some confidence.

Anyone with a half functioning pair of eyes can see that Jelavic was utter bilge in last night's game. There's no shame in that, he's terribly out of form and hopefully he'll come good again but he needs to be taken out of the first team.

Swerve all this movement guff, he's a striker and is judged on goals. He's not scoring any at the moment and the team are suffering.
