My biggest worry with him really was that we wouldn't actually give him enough chances because of the way we played and that the way he played wouldn't create enough chances for other players.
Luckily thus far both fears are unfounded, let's hope it stays that way.

On the evidence so far he is top drawer. Plenty of players in the past have waned after an inspired spell though. Franny Jeffers looked top drawer once...and indeed he was until he fell away.

This is true, but his game is really simple, he's got the strikers knack, of being in the right place & his finishing is sublime but nearly exclusively 1 touch. He's a very rare breed.

(off topic - but Wenger signing Jeffers as his 'fox in the box' always made me wonder if he'd ever seen the lad play, as Franny was never that player)

Movement throughout the whole game was everything you want in a striker. He could still improve on his build up play a little bit too and we have one of the best strikers in the league. I don't want him to go the way of Hernandez at United though, who seems to have bulked up a load and lost the part of the game which makes Jelavic and him so deadly.

The way we are playing is definitely a part of why he's playing so well though. The fluidity of the 3 behind him creates so much space, it's actually amusing how badly the opposition struggles with it. A joy to watch.

Agreed. Doubt many will take what I'm about to say seriously, but I really think the vast majority of his goals last season (if not all) were complete hit-and-hopes. Spectacular goals are not easily replicable, certainly not with any regularity. Only a few (Lampard, Gerrard e.t.c) can really do that season-to-season. It's shown this year as he's not scored a goal and missed a penalty that they spesifically gave to him to get him off the mark.
And while Cisse was like £13 million, we got Jela for £5.5 million. Amazing business. We'd get 4x as much if we sold him now (which I am desperate to avoid)

go backwards but hes kept it up and convinced me hes the first striker weve had for ages
that looks consistent and bangs them in all the time ..just what we needed

After the end of last season I held my hands up and said I got it wrong. I also said I'd wait until he actually sustained his good form before conferring 'legend' status on him (I actually heard a local radio commentator call him that last Saturday).

Yeah, I hate the way people knee jerk when a player has 2 good games or say we're going to win the league cos we've done well in our first 6 matches, etc.

Was suprised you were a bit cautious about him carrying on with his good form though, just because his movement always looked top drawer and the way he was 1 touch scoring all the time made him stand out as a class above the usual kind of striker we have at Everton.
