Nikica Jelavic

I think most people's criticisms of Moyes when it comes to strikers is that he likes them to play in a very specific manner in usually a 4-5-1 formation. That's fine if you've got a player like Marcus Bent who will run all day but with players like Saha and Yakubu that just wasn't going to work well for long periods of time, because they're not that kind of player.

Beckford was the one for me, much more than Yakubu where I think there were more factors. He would have been fine as part of a striking pair but by himself he was just lost.

It was no good for either the player of the club to persist with him in a 4-5-1.

Death how can anyone say Saha and Yakubu (even in their prime) were better than Jelavic is at the moment? He's ****ing unbelievable.

Its nonsense. We've NEVER had such a complete all round Striker since the 1980's from what I've seen of Jelavic.

Anyone saying otherwise is talking tosh aka "Moyes Ruins Strikers" tosh. (such as Brennan91)

Come on lad. In that time we've had Saha, Yakubu, Ferguson, Cottee, Campbell, Beardsley even Rideout at this club.

Has Jelavic started fantastically? Yes, yes he has. He certainly has to potential to be somthing special but you can't call him better than SuperKev after only so few games. If he keeps up this form next year, I'll agree but every striker has hot patches, he has to prove himself over a season first.

He needs to keep this goal scoring form on next season. He's been brilliant so far but he's only been here a few months. Lets hope he can remain consistent.

He's come in and took some good finishes while showing some good movement.

Similar to Hernandez at United when he first came in.

As i said earlier, if he had scored 1 goal people would be saying give him time before judging him.

Same goes in the reverse scenario.

Its rash to make a definite judgement on him in just 3 months.

Saha proved over the years that on form and fit he was top class, and Yakubu showed everywhere he's been that he can score all kinds of goals and get his team mates involved for the benefit of the whole team, his interplay with Arteta, Pienaar, Osman and Cahill was top notch.

Jelavic thus far has shown he can score goals using a predatory goalscorers instinct. Yes his overall play and workrate seem good as well but until he can bring the whole package over the course of the season i'd say he isn't as good as Yakubu or Saha yet.

Im just gonna say it, Kevin Campbell wasnt that good mate.

He scored some great and important goals for us, but his strikerate was terrible.

If we rely on one player to get us goals we'll be in trouble. Hopefully Anichebe and Vellios will play more next year and continue their own good goalscoring form. We could do with Cahill getting back amongst the goals too.

We're also pretty reliant on Pienaar to supply the ammunition. We saw in the semi that without Peanuts Jelavic had very little service. That needs addressing too.

It seems as tho a lot of fans cant wait for him to fail.

Sad to see.
Personally, I think if he carries on like this, he'll be remembered as the greatest Everton forward in living memory. I doubt he's going to all of a sudden forget how to be a striker and stop scoring for beards i.e. Yakubu and Torres.
