If he had only scored 1 goal so far and someone said "see told you he was crap" people would be like "lets not kneejerk and wait till he's had a pre season with the team and then judge him".

So while he might have started off well so have other strikers over the years.

Need to see how well he does after being here for a while and if he goes the same way as certain other strikers who have started off well here.

Need someone who can do the leg work with him.
jelavic is a finisher, Now we need someone to do a job like AJ did for the yak, someone with a lot of workrate so jelavic can just concentrate on scoring, lets face it cahill isnt up to it anymroe

It really would seem some people are positively salivating at the thought of the lad stopping scoring so they can come on and say Moyes has "ruined" another striker. That is, by far, still the most ridiculous yet often used phrase on here.

Agreed. Anyone sitting behind a computer actively hoping for something negative to happen regarding Everton or one of our players so they can say 'told you so', needs to get a life.

He's off the leash at the moment. He's a great finisher by the looks of it, but we know he'll be left isolated like all our forwards have been in the past when the matches realy count and Moyes is looking to get a result of some sort with all hands to the pumps in midfield. The Yakubu first season form should be a warning: free scoring then eventually he got worn down by the workload he was given.

Moyes needs to partner him consistently with an out and out stiker or he'll wither away on the vine...like the rest did.

He is right.

I think the Moyes ruins strikers malarky is a myth. Yakubu got seriously injured and didn't come back the same, he demanded higher wages which Moyes wasn't prepared to pay especially when he wasn't scoring so we offloaded (should have got more tbf). And at Blackburn he's proved he can still score.

Aj to me never really seemed like a goalscorer, but always a hard worker and brought out the best in some of our other players imo by taking the workload.

Edit: I do agree he needs a partner though, I suggested in a different thread that Rangers Aluko would be a good buy for us as he's already played with Jelavic before.

Croatia have got Spain, Italy and Ireland at the Euros. If he does well and someone offers Bill £25m for a player he bought for £5m six months ago, I'm pretty sure he'd think about it.

If we get offered £15m I fear Bill would take it. Says a lot about us as a club really that we are so scared of the summer as we know we have to sell somebody before Moyes can sign anyone. I think right now we would all reluctantly accept Rodwell going but given his injuries who'd take him?

Its no myth!!

Beattie - Ruined
Johnson - Ruined - did we play him as a winger?
Yakubu - Ruined
Saha - Ruined

All of them were great goalscorers, and all had a great first season..then all of them slowly start to fade.

Beattie didn't work out.
We used Johnson to get the best out of other players, and made a profit no?
Yakubu got a serious injury and fell out with Moyes after wanting more money despite playing poor. Scoring again now.
Saha was so injury prone, required massive run of games to get going usually and his new method of running to prevent recurring injuries lead to him not getting any chances. Not playing much for spurs now.
