Niasse Ban for Diving - Consistency

Personally think if there's contact, no matter how little - if a penalty is given, there shouldn't be any retrospective action.

Particularly when the referee reviews it on video after the game and stands by his decision.

I think footballers should be allowed to "win" a penalty, as they do free kicks etc.

There's a significant difference when there's contact/when it's winning a penalty (DCL/Niasse), vs a blatant complete dive when there's no contact (Lanzini).

I'd have loved Calvert Lewin's penalty at Anfield to have been a blatant dive - but for me Niasse won the penalty, in the same way Calvert Lewin did (DCL stepped in front of Lovren to shield the ball,Lovren was an idiot and went down to win the pen...)

Lanzini's, like Niasse's was a penalty. They are just trying to use this now to make it look worthwhile. If you look at instances prior to Niasse's when people were banend retrospectively you'll see how there is literally no contact and that should be the case. Not these ambiguous, 'there is contact but who initiated it,' scenarios.

If it’s a penalty when there is contact in the box then there would be 50 penalties per match judging by what happens at corners and free kicks into the box.

Proper can of worms opened up here

Which is kinda silly really. Simulation is only simulation if it's inside the box? Do they want to stamp out diving only for penalties and not for free kicks?

Whoever came up with the idea needs to get in the bin along with the idea.
equally only punishing someone if they get a successfully con the ref into giving a penalty is kinda stupid. Surely any dive if not picked up by the ref at the time should be reviewed and punished as an elbow would or something like that.

also, what if the player misses a penalty? Then surely he's not drastically effected the game...
