Totally agree with this. The Champions league is one of the biggest problems in modern day football.
It is self perpetuating - the teams that are in it get more money, can pay bigger wages, have bigger squads, players want to go there, etc etc and it becomes a barrier to other teams breaking through.

Exactly. This causes the gap between domestic clubs and the CL clubs too wide. It is very hard to bridge the gap through a footballing structure, hence why we have billionaire owners to bridge the gap. Man City rich types are therefore not the problem, it's the Champions League that is the problem.
The Europa League is the key to bridging the gap, that should be the footballing stepping stone. They need to distribute a far greater amount of CL money into it.
