NFL 2024 Season

The online discourse that I've been seeing following the games last night is.. interesting.

The general sentiment seems to be that people are simply fed up of the Chiefs, to the point were there's becoming a clear disconnect between fans and the NFL on the back of what is perceived to be an inherit bias towards them all for the sake of 'entertainment' and 'drama'. The noises are so loud now that even the networks like CBS & FOX seem to talk about it all the time - even Sky Sports here in the UK were discussing the treatment that the Chiefs/Mahomes get during the Divisionals last week, with more than one suggestion that the biases do indeed exist.

Generally, people don't seem too happy that the Superbowl this year won't be featuring any of the Bills, Lions, Ravens or Commanders and, given how exciting this season has been up to this point, I kinda get it. I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up being the lowest viewed Superbowl game in years..
I will say that the Eagles have an extremely hated fanbase, despite having won very little in their history.

Obviously the hate for the Chiefs stems from their success.

But the Eagles seem to be hated universally irrespective of their lack of accomplisments.

I'm looking forward to this Super Bowl.

Chiefs have the magic ability of getting the win just over the line at all times. All round good team with a generational talent at QB.

Eagles have probably got the most loaded squad in talent when all fit and Barkley who is playing at another level. QB is probably the weak link but he still plays at a high level when fully fit.

Obnoxious, loud and aggressive. There’s a Bill Burr video where he goes on about Philly which sums it up perfectly. Its about 15 minutes long so won’t link.

Oh and Eagles fans boo more than Everton fans, good job I absolutely love booing.

It’s also not only exclusive to football, people just hate Philly I think.

They scored 8 touchdowns. I have a very hard time seeing a way for Washington to play clean enough to win that anyway.
Ask the Lions if turnovers affected them. They got absolutely canned and I don't think the Commanders were the better team in that one either. They make a massive difference.

Exactly. That’s the general consensus about Philly fans across the various sports.

Tbf I have plenty of Philly fans in my circle and they’re fine. The crazy Philly fan is overstated and outdated imo. Different sport but LA (Dodgers Stadium) was much scarier than Philly as an opposing fan. Some legit gang members in their fanbase

Not going to lie I'm unsure I will watch it this time.

Bit of perspective on the Bills loss on Sunday. 10 years ago this month we hired Rex ‘I’ve now got Turkey teeth’ Ryan as our head coach. Our starting QB was Tyrod Taylor and WR1 was Kelvin Benjamin. We went 8-8 in the first year and 6-10 in the 2nd playing some of the worst Offensive football I’ve ever seen in Buffalo and I’ve seen some garbage.

In the 8 years since he was sacked, the franchise has been totally revitalised. Yes we may not have won much outside of 5 straight AFC East titles, but we go into each season with hope and a team to be proud of. We went 16 years without a playoff appearance until McDermott took over, and with the exception of Allen’s first year, we’ve been a consistent figure in the post season.

Sunday still stings when I think about it, but then I think back to having the Dyche of American Football in charge at Buffalo and wanting to pull my eyes out every week.
