Its not just that, to be fair it's a really weird situation where nobody knows quite what to do. It's not something you can really be prepared for until it happens.
Oh, I 100% agree. All the more reason you’d hope that common sense/compassion takes over and the overriding instinct is to postpone the game immediately. The fact they hung on until the pressure was such they had no choice, is what disappointed me.

Yup. Especially since they saw what happened at the Euros after Eriksen collapsed.
It was cruel to make Denmark play so soon after that

How that differed - if I remember correctly - is that Eriksen was conscious and had spoken to the team, who decided they wanted to play on in his honour. I agree with you that UEFA should probably have stepped in and made them wait, but at least there was a sense of agency on the players’ part and the knowledge that CE was ok.

To make these guys warm up and believe they may actually have to finish the game, when their mate is still in critical condition, was ludicrous levels of cruelty.

One positive that has already arisen from this horrifying turn of events:

I'm a Bengals fan of 35 years and I just want to hear news that Hamlin's condition is improving. Nothing else. I don't care if the game is forfeited, declared a tie, postponed or whatever - none of that matters.

My thoughts are with the Hamlin family, Tee Higgins (who must be feeling awful) and the medical team who pulled out all the stops to get this guy's heart restarted. Nine minutes of nonstop CPR is an absolutely heroic effort.

Love it. The fact the drive exists in the first place shows what a good lad Hamlin is.

Very well said, mate. The lad who hit him must be distraught, but it was an utter freak occurrence.

Chiefs now favourites for the Super Bowl with Vegas.

Which tells you that the smart money thinks the Chiefs are going to get the 1 seed due to some kind of forfeit/tie.

It’s only irrelevant if you think the whole season will be cancelled.

I think the nfl are going to puny the decision until after the Chiefs game against the Raiders.

The above post supports that view.
The season won't be cancelled but seedings are not important right now. Buffalo and Cincennati will play play off games when the time comes but I doubt they are in the slightest bit worried about seeding right now.

For me the helmets are the most dangerous part of football these days. As much as they protect players, they also cause so many serious injuries. I've been nervous for awhile every time I see a player hit someone or get hit by a helmet. Even though this seems like a freak occurrence, in the end it's still caused by a hit by a helmet.

On the positive/ironic side, there are not many more likely places to survive cardiac arrest than a football field, with all the doctors and emergency medical equipment on standby and plenty of people who know what to look for and what to do.

Yup.
There was a high school lacrosse player from a couple towns over from where I grew up who died after getting in the chest with the ball.
His parents have been very active in trying to get AED for all the high school games.
