Neymar is CRAP.

And no player in a top league has been overhyped?

Robinho was one of the best players in the brazilian league but he still didn't win that many trophies so it wasn't like he was unstoppable and he's continued to be one of the best players in every other league he's been in.

And neymar's brazil still came runners up in the olympics. It's not like they couldn't compete with players from european leagues at all. Brazilian based players have been proving they can in the world cup for decades.

Brazilian players which amounts to a squad of what, 25 players ? The Brazilian top league has 20 teams.

The average Brazilian player runs 9-10km in a Serie A league match. It’s about 12-13 in the Premier League. That’s 25% more intense. It’s easy to look good in the Serie A but not so easy to look good in the Premier League or Champions League (André Santos is a good example). This is perhaps one of the reasons that Neymar, Ganso and Brazil struggled so much at the Copa America this year. The teams in that tournament were playing at a much higher intensity than they do in local tournaments (the Serie A and Libertadores). Neymar will be fine when he goes to Europe I am sure. But I’ve got my worries over Ganso and if he’ll be able to adapt to the pace, particularly with all his injury problems. I hope he proves my concerns to be unfounded because on his day he is fantastic.

I'm not arguing that Brazil don't have a number of world class players, we're talking about the quality of the league which according to most people who watch it on a regular basis is seemingly quite poor.

It is.

I'm just saying that it's always been. And it's still produced a lot of great players who have shown in the world cup and the club world cups that they can step it up against better sides.

It's difficult to know how Neymar will do in spain or italy etc until he gets there but I don't think it's out of the question that he'd thrive. It's not like moving from scotland.

Agree there, if he'd done that we'd know he was world class already.

I really rate Neymar, in my lifetime there have been a handful of players who really stir up excitement and he is one of them. He can't move to Europe yet as he is essentially owned by Brazil, he is a national treasure and is needed to generate advertising money and interest as Brazil host the World Cup and Rio the Olympics.

It's difficult to judge how good he will be but Brazil for the past few decades have used their giant population to their advantage filling a national team with big lads and one superstar. I believe Neymar is this generations superstar.

I used to work in Brazil and would watch a lot of games and it's amazing how slow it actually is. But, Riquelme used to control games by hardly moving in world and European football so I don't think for talented footballers like Neymar adapting to Europe would be that much of an issue. He's far better than the likes of Kerrison and other high profile flops.

too much time spent playing keepy-uppy on Copacabana beach, and not enough time spent playing against grizzly-arsed center half's kicking fcuk out of you for 90 minutes.

He needs to man-up
