And no player in a top league has been overhyped?
Robinho was one of the best players in the brazilian league but he still didn't win that many trophies so it wasn't like he was unstoppable and he's continued to be one of the best players in every other league he's been in.
And neymar's brazil still came runners up in the olympics. It's not like they couldn't compete with players from european leagues at all. Brazilian based players have been proving they can in the world cup for decades.
Brazilian players which amounts to a squad of what, 25 players ? The Brazilian top league has 20 teams.
The average Brazilian player runs 9-10km in a Serie A league match. It’s about 12-13 in the Premier League. That’s 25% more intense. It’s easy to look good in the Serie A but not so easy to look good in the Premier League or Champions League (André Santos is a good example). This is perhaps one of the reasons that Neymar, Ganso and Brazil struggled so much at the Copa America this year. The teams in that tournament were playing at a much higher intensity than they do in local tournaments (the Serie A and Libertadores). Neymar will be fine when he goes to Europe I am sure. But I’ve got my worries over Ganso and if he’ll be able to adapt to the pace, particularly with all his injury problems. I hope he proves my concerns to be unfounded because on his day he is fantastic.
I'm not arguing that Brazil don't have a number of world class players, we're talking about the quality of the league which according to most people who watch it on a regular basis is seemingly quite poor.
