There have been a few big name Brazilians recently that have flattered to deceive. Denilson and Kerlon are probably the biggest over hyped flops, but even people like Anderson at Man Utd haven't lived up to the hype. Pato was another who had massive hype but hasn't really lived up to it.

I think it helps players to float under the radar a bit. Ronaldinho only cost €5 million when PSG signed him, whilst Rivaldo had a season with Deportivo before joining Barca, Ronaldo started with PSV, as did Romario.

The only top Brazilian that went straight to a super big club was probably Kaka, and even then he didn't join with a massive fee and heaped expectations.
