I'l be honest and say I haven seen much of Neville since he started working for sky, but in the main he seems to have good things said about him, after watching last night I think he's awful.

First off stating that United aren't all that far off in terms of their bid for our players, only Valbuena from Marseille created more chances in europe last season than Baines and this prick makes out as though he's only worth £15m at a push.

Then the two of them tear into Wenger, with Neville unbelievably saying that Arteta was signed by him to play as a right winger, i'm sorry but thats just absolutely clueless, there is no way Wenger bought Mikel for him to play wide right.

I won't be able to listen the pair of them of a monday night, just as well i'l be at our only match penciled in for that evening.

A grossly erroneous oversimplification of Moyes' football style. Considering Fellaini only played that advanced role for half a season what were we doing for the other 10? At times we did go long to Fellaini's chest but this was part of the variety of our player that made us a good team last year. Most of our moves started with Baines playing infield to Osman and Gibson and we'd go from there. When all these options were cut off by teams that pressed we could go long to Fellaini and then bring our playmakers into the game.

Playing long balls or percentage football to my mind involves defenders lumping it down the lines or into the corners for forwards to chase or for a forward to flick on. It has been a long time since we did that. When was the last time you saw Baines or Coleman just aimlessly curl one up the line in the hope of a forward running into the corner for it? Barely ever last season. Instead we have had years of Baines and Pienaar having some wonderful interplay and last season Mirallas and Coleman providing a great direct running threat. We've tended to have some pretty lazy forwards recently and they have certainly not looked for flick ons from Fellaini or bothered to chase balls into the corner.

Ultimately the only telling phase of football is what you do in the final third. Last seaosn we ocmpleted more passes than anyone in an opponents final third. In my opinion too many as teams usually got everyone back and made it difficult for us. How does it matter how youg get to that position. If you spend 5 mins passing it aorund before working it through midfield or you hit Fellaini and then work it aorund the end result is the same. One thing we never did last season was just aimlessly luanch balls into the box hoping for a knock down or a lucky bounce. That is percentage football and is somehting that I didn't see at all last season.

That's simply not true. One of the features of Moyes' time in charge was the pitched long pass into the final third from the half way line, under no pressure whatsoever. It was a calculated way of by-passing play in order to maximise the territorial danger to the opposition. I'm not saying we didn't carry the ball working it back to front - we did many times - but it was usually a result of getting it out wide onto the flank where if the move broke down it couldn't be immediately fatal. Apart from Arteta pulling a few strings on occasion in his pomp for us, we saw hardly anything by way of penetrating football on the ground from the middle of the park, though. Moyes' style reflected the man: risk aversion.

It's not just about the footy though is it?

It's just refreshing to have someone with a bit of desire for the job again, having another year of that sour faced bellend slump through his weekly press conferences wouldn't have been any fun at all.
