Just turned it off embarrassed by Carragher's whining "professional scouser" routine.

Sounds like he's about to go off on a "Suarez is innocent" or other "victim" story his voice is so high, and he's talking about Newcastles defence ffs.

One octave from being audible only to dogs - the fukin donkey.

This was just ace.

the bit on coleman's goal was beautiful. 2 players in Norwichs 6 yard box... Baines and Coleman.

Total football lids

Carragher being an embarrassing scouse [Poor language removed] aside (and before people start I grew up off priory road by stanley park) this is a really promising stat.

We can make light of it because we only drew, but for the first competitive game under a new manager trying to get his team to play this way is seriously encourgaing.

As the players get more used to the system and way of playing I expect less concentration will go on actually keeping the ball and as the style becomes more fluid and natural, runs into space and chances should be more forthcoming. I actually expected a worse start than what we got as we adapt so to see stats like this fills me with confidence that a few teams this season are in for a right hammering!

Spot on. I think some would still like us to be *winning the hoofballing* instead.

Martinez has a task and a half: getting his squad to have a go at being footballers comfortable on the ball and dragging tens of thousands of Evertonians kicking and screaming into the light.

possession stats last year were always around the 50% mark give or take a few percent depending on if we were at home/away against 5hit/good opposition.

RM is going for possession football and it will take time. Moyes played the percentages, sometimes with effect, sometimes without. I know which one id rather see.

totally agree, i was over the moon with our performance, i wasnt expecting it after the betis game. I can't wait for westbrom on saturday, going to the game was a chore under moyes you knew exactly how the game was going to pan out and as soon as howard hit his first hoof my head would drop.

This is my concern, 11 years of garbage percentage football and people get used to it. i hope the fans embrace the way football should be played.

Yeah but Moyes just played that way beacuse of the limited players he had.......!!

When Rodwell came into the City side at the back end of last season after his injuries, he showed more in those games than he did in the whole of his Everton career.

Of course he had better players around him, but he looked like he was taking the game by the scruff of the neck himself.

Not a Moyes basher, but I am sure some players he had could have been developed a lot better.

No complaints of him overall though, he was shrewd enough to spot the potential in the likes of Coleman amongst others.

The team has been creating a lot of chances for the last couple of seasons, 20+ shots on goal etc. Somehow we never batter anyone. How many times have we been all over teams but can't score that 1+ goal that would turn a draw into a win. Regardless of the style of play I don't think the players we have are that clinical at finishing. /me looks at Pienaar and Osman.....
