New striker in the summer

We spent £6m on Kone which at the time seemed a lot, but now looks small change as we paid £13m for McCarthy. £6m wasted really as as long as Lukaku is fit we won't see much of him. Jelavic will probably play in the FA Cup 3rd round if we draw a division 4 team or something. So Kone and Jelavic aren't the answer because imagine what it would be like going from a player like Lukaku to a player like Kone. Our standards have been raised and we will want to see a player with the same credentials. What are the chances of making a bid for Lukaku? £20m? We've got nothing to lose by trying and he seems to fit in well with Martinez's style. He's linked up very well with Mirallas and Barkley and further relationships can be created with Pienaar, Coleman and Baines. We would be stupid to just let him go without a fight. Chelsea could sell him as a way to make a profit.
He's the brightest prospect in Europe right now and it would hurt to see him pull on a Chelsea shirt again.

He wants to play in the CL. He wont stay with us.

Lukaku is here with his mate Kevin and he seems to have struck up a psychic rapport with Ross. He will ask for a permanent transfer to EVERTON!

I'm pretty sure Roman does not need the cash and that he would be willing to accept payment over 25 years.

You dirty get.

There must be strikers out there who we can sign - and we would have done if we hadn't signed Kone tbh.

We could have gone for Osvaldo, Wolfswinkel or Bony - I'm sure playing in a better team than they are at present would see their strike rates improve.

Now Martinez has finished raiding Wigan he will have to look elsewhere for his targets. I suspect Lukaku was very much a last minute job and without him we would be struggling with Kone.

TBH, if we are still in amongst the CL places come Jan - a tough ask I realise - then surely we have to be looking at top quality additions to see if we can grab that top 4 spot.
