New Healthy Start

Monday update. Had subway salad, curry from asda in pack and dunkin donut yesterday. Was active during the day though and got over 10k steps and 1 hour active walking round and the museum and stuff so hopefully balanced out somewhat.

Today off to new Brighton so more walking about and staying active and got soft tacos with fresh chicken and lettuce for tea so if I can pick up a salad for dinner I should he good today, even if I get an ice cream

Really need to start working out again. I seem to have the healthy eating down now and drinking water but it's the workouts I'm lacking in now.

Stop eating curry from packs mate.

Takes about 20 minutes to make a curry from fresh ingredients and I'd imagine a load cheaper.

I've not read all this thread obviously but buying fresh food certainly seems something you're missing.

Back to breakfast.Oat bran with a sliced banana a few shakes of cinnamon. If your like me and too bored to stand at the cooker for 5 minutes stirring,2 minutes in a microwave.Keeps your blood sugar level all morning.

The curry was quick stop gap. I get paid Tuesday so it was just a case of getting a couple of meals in to do us til we can go and do a big shop again. I am looking into buying more fresh stuff from this month, I have been countering the instant factor with eating less of it, so to speak. But as the weeks have past the vast majority of my meals have been based around vegetables rather than pasta or anything oven cooked. Think overall my diet has massively changed to thst extent, even yesterday in the food court in town. Had a choice of fast food and what not and still chose the salad. Starting to really enjoy then now done right, bag for a quid in asda with croutons is 2 of my 5 and nice enough to eat by themselves

But yeah, if I listed what I eat over a week before this started and what I eat now, considering how little pasta sugar bad carbs bread I have cut out already, it's just annoying I haven't lost more as a result.

I have been having oats porridge as a breakfast to make sure I have it rather than skip, one with minimal sugar as well on purpose with blueberries or banana in it but haven't had fruit in past few days so just plain porridge instead lol

Has to be oat bran rather than standard porridge to get the real benefit.........
"What is the difference between oat bran and oatmeal?
Oat bran contains about 50% more fiber and soluble fiber than oatmeal, making it more effective at lowering cholesterol and helping digestion. It also has more protein, calcium, iron, thiamin, phosphorus, riboflavin, magnesium, and zinc.
The main structural difference is that oatmeal (typically rolled oats) is whole grain, while oat bran is just the bran of the oat.
Finally, because oat bran is creamier (due to the finer texture of the product), it satiates hunger more than oatmeal".

New update.

Exercise been a bit of a non starter this week so far. I have been active in parts, walking round town sunday and walking round new brighton for like 6 hours on monday is exercise i would imagine. To be honest I have been trying my best for healthy eating, keeping up with fruits and salads but ate a bit bad as well couple of nights due to lack of food in the house and timings (monday didn't get in til half 9 so wasn't cooking that late).

I have insanity tomorrow so at least that is one extreme exercise to do and i will strive to get another one done tonight as well, some Tae bo, so yeah, trying to get into a rythym again.

I think my mind set is to try and settle into something past couple of weeks. As much as the exercise has dropped at times, i want to be able to maintain this as much as i can. So yeah, eating salad for lunch every day, porridge in the morning, 3 pieces of fruit, water to drink etc, that i can see is the most important thing. Even if it meant i only drop a couple of pounds a week, least i'm dropping weight slowly whilst i am going through a rough patch. I will kick back into this soon, i have to. Planning on getting married in December and got the november trip and the size 36 pants that i need to fit into so yeah, as much as i have been lazy recently, i have them targets still there in mind.

Can wandering around be considered exercise? I'd assume you need to significantly raise your heart rate to consider it exercise, no?

Anyway, went to Byron burger yesterday and had burger, fries and enormo-milkshake. It was the bomb. Must have been a thousand calories, no question.

Surely walking for 6 hours is going to burn some calories off? not as much as a gym session but if you don't throw your calories up at the same time then 6 hours worth is going to burn a few hundred off, especially when 30 minute exercise has the same effect.

Side note.

Starting a weighing thing on monday in work. They will weigh me every week and can give me advice and stuff. I think that will finally be the kick up the arse i need tbh, because then every monday i will be aiming to lose weight rather than gain or stall, so the rest of the week will be more focused on dropping pounds rather than right now where i have no real control.

So yeah, the same as insanity with other people is motivation to do it, rather than give up in the house, having nurses tell me how fat i am every week will be the motivation to have them tell me i'm slightly less fat each week instead.

Was thinking more about improving fitness rather than burning calories. You're calorie mad you. You burn 2 calories every time you blink.

lol i'm not obsessed with calories as much as it may seem. I don't monitor my intake tbh, i just like to be conscious of anything that can tell me how many it contains.

although i am avoiding things with higher salt and sugar content now as well so i am using the info wiser than i was.

Walking for fitness? I would imagine it would have a positive effect on the calves doing that much so that would be the fitness aspect of it.
