New Healthy Start

haha why?

Haha I couldn't think of anything less appetising!

I lost about 2 stone last year. One of the main things that helped me was doing my big food shop online. It stopped me lobbing all the half price pizzas, or 3-for-2 pringles, in the trolley and I just order all my essentials/fruit & veg. I originally did it to save money but found myself cooking far more and far healthier as a result.

It saves the order too, so it's easy to just repeat it each week if you want. I drive into the Asda car park on the way home, press a button, and some little fella runs out with all me shopping. Happy days!

Out first shop was yesterday. Generally similar foods but planning to eat less of them. Like last night was a quick and easy chilli con carne out of a tin and rice. First time ever eaten that out the tin to be fair but half a plate full so not overdoing it. Got chicken breasts in, lots of steam veg, even carrot and swede to swap out for potatoe mash when a meal requires it. Just generally eating better and smaller.

The online thing might be a good idea though mate yeah. allow us to run the list off rather than look for stuff.

And yesterdays dinner was cheap and as healthy as 1.50 could buy me. So kippers for protein/omega 3 and mug shot for the low in calories.

the Asda have midgets who deliver your shopping ? That's boss

Night two. Kids were in bed early again so decided to mix it up a little rather than just sit there.

So.....opening myself up for ridicule but not arsed.

I did a 45 minutes zumba program. Mainly because I thought simple exercising was going to get boring if I repeat it so do something more engaging when I can't be arsed doing push ups or silly jumps.

Lasted the whole thing which I'm made up about because it was tiring! Obviously not a dancer so wasn't perfect so improvised some bits but yeah.

Looked it up and 45 minutes worth could have burned roughly 500 calories being generous so yeah, can feel it now but not doing too badly.

Legs are a bit dead today so haven't walked as much as i have been sadly. Won't stop me doing something tonight if i have the chance. Be dead in the ground before i drop any weight lol

Dinner today was a devil dinner, a jacket potato with cheese and beans. So probably evil food that doen't help weight loss but its better than just grabbing a butty and crisps i would imagine. Also downgraded to Coke Zero so no sugar at all.

My general way of thinking right now is the following. I have no idea what i weigh, no idea how many calories i am eating. If i know either of them then i will get obsesive and don't want that. So i just work out general numbers and keep in mind how many i should be eating. So that potato may have been 400 calories in total, but then that is only 500 or a bit for the first 12 hours of the day. Meaning if my tea is quite low, and i do exercises which cut a significant amount out then i could have a daily intake then of around 700 give or take.

Surely even with eating jacket potatoes, that will lead to weight loss?

That might be a good place to start tbh mate.....

get weighed once a month . Nothing obsessive about that .

I haven't really got access to scales either. So no idea how i can go about it lol

I know from past experience though that the minute i am aware of my weight then what i eat then becomes obsessive, knowing full well if i eat this, it might add weight. Compared to right now where i can work in rough amounts, so roughly i am eating just over a thousand and working off at least 300 or more. Just make sure i am eating fruit and veg every day, make sure i am drinking more water and eating less or no crap etc

Weight isn't even that great a measure of fitness anyway. My weight never fluctuates more than about 4lb either way, but I know I'm fitter than ever since I started running about 9 months ago. A better gauge is simply how knackered you feel after exercise.

Everyone seems so hung up on recordable measures of fitness.

Well i know i am pretty knackered doing what i am doing now haha most of my muscles hurt so a good indicator that the exercise is working in that regard.

Really worth getting some scales mate. You can pick some up for about a tenner in Argos i'd guess. Probably less.

They're good just educate you on what puts weight on the most, and what takes it off.

I weigh in daily, which I wouldn't reccomend doing, and like the challenge of setting where you want to be. It's also fun seeing what loses weight. I lost 3 actual pounds having a massive dump once. It was beautiful.
