New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Atmosphere would be better if the team was better. If you serve monotonous predictable slop on the pitch for decades then what do you realistically expect from fan atmosphere. Even if we were 2-0 up most Blues are probably thinking if there’s still time for this lot to lose 3-2.

The new stadium needs some big results and some memorable nights to get it properly going but we just don’t have the team to deliver it. Third round FA Cup tie, a hint of excitement in the air, and that team come out and decide they don’t fancy running for 45 minutes. Just don’t know what the fans can do in that situation.
It's not just individual games either, it's the whole issue of games in general not really mattering. Nobody really cares whether we finish 9th or 11th in the grand scheme of things, there's no jeopardy, no reason for the fans to really get invested because we all know it doesn't actually mean anything. When backs were against the wall and it looked like we could go down the fans were consistently great, if we were challenging at the top it would be the same. Expecting people to turn the stadium into a bear pit for a midweek game against Wolves in the first week of January when we're pretty much guaranteed to finish somewhere between 8th and 14th just isn't realistic.

As a fanbase we’ve been effectively physically beaten for years , the only happiness when we avoid an even more severe beating . It’s hard to get excited about non exciting things , given us exciting scenarios and engage us on the pitch and we’ve seen what we can do .

I worry we’re just too downtrodden and it’ll take something to shake us from it .

The football fan equivalent of coercive control.

Live football on tv , there's too much, its diluting going to the game as they've brainwashed us.
I'm not going to our stadium for the next 4 months to sit on my hands cos other people tell me the games don't matter.

Of course they matter, they just don't really matter, surely you understand the difference? There's a reason why important games have a better atmosphere (and always have, this isn't a modern phenomenon), because when there's something actually riding on it people's emotions dial up and they become far more engaged in the whole thing. It's simply not possible for me to turn up a week on monday to watch us play Leeds in a dead rubber with the same energy I had turning up for the Bournemouth or Palace games where we needed a result to stay up or for a latter stage cup game or whatever.

As always, if even half the people who moan about the atmosphere actually bother to make some noise then they won't have anything to moan about.

Fair points & I do know what you mean, I'd just like us to make more effort that's all.
Just my opinion.

Many adjectives have been used to describe David Moyes. "Exciting" was never one of them.

I think the riser thing is being blown out of proportion here. The lower Gladys had a step in the days before all seating and had no roof covering The riser is essentially just a step.

I don't believe the riser is the issue, its the team quality and performance. Just like it was for most games at Goodison.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the south stand isn't only separate on the outside side but also on the inside isn't it? So people in the lower can't mix with people in the upper.

That essentially means they're two stands. It doesn't have the look of one stand.

The club also need to find a way to add exits and escalators from the rear of the upper south down to the concourse. It would make life much easier for fans.

Something vaguely similar to that at the back of the Park End.
